On April 30th, the city of Porto hosted the 2nd edition of START-EAT-UP!
At the magnificent WOW event in Vila Nova de Gaia, the event is gaining prominence on the national restaurant calendar and becoming an unmissable meeting point for those who want to transform the present and future of the national restaurant industry. After an impactful debut in Lisbon, this movement headed north with a clear purpose: to give a platform to entrepreneurship in the restaurant sector!

With an inspiring setting, very much in the style of Porto, professionals in the field, entrepreneurs, brands and public entities came together to share experiences, reflect on ideas and concepts, and chart paths towards a more innovative, efficient and digitalized sector.
This edition featured a diverse panel of speakers, with real-world experiences and insights, practical strategies, and inspiring stories.
The afternoon began with Patrícia Abreu, from AHRESP, who presented on the topic "Entrepreneurship in the Restaurant Industry: Legal Challenges," providing important information and regulations for those who want to start a business or for those who have already started a restaurant business.

Angela Leal presented "SARA APPCC: Digitizing to Simplify," discussing a food automation and record-keeping system that speeds up hazard analysis and critical control points for different types of businesses in this sector.

Nuno Pontes, from Camada Francesinhas (left) and Miguel Maia, from Hanami Sushi (right), shared their experience and journey as entrepreneurs in this sector and the challenges they faced and continue to face.

Each of these interventions brought a unique perspective on the challenges and achievements of those who undertake ventures in the sector, in the most diverse areas of restoration – from the digitization of processes to legal management and the creation of brands with their own identity.

In addition to high-value content presented by the various speakers, START-EAT-UP is a stage for relaxed networking, full of growth opportunities to establish partnerships and exchange experiences between professionals from different areas related to the restaurant industry.
